Interesting stuff

Some interesting news that I found out over the weekend

1) Saurav Ganguly is going to host a quiz show for a Bangla channel with the programme being named "Dadagiri' !!!.

2) Roger Federer became a proud father of twin girls. Great stuff ! Was wondering whether we would see the "Federer twins" dominating women's tennis in twenty years time. Just for the record, the two have been named Charlene Riva and Myla Rose. Just as I was checking Google for their names, it seems many others have already felt the same. Here's just a sample of the interest surrounding their birth : "..London bookmakers Friday are offering 100/1 odds of one of the pair someday winning Wimbledon. The twins, born Thursday, have barely opened their eyes but are tabbed as 25/1 to claim a Grand Slam event. "The twins certainly come from good tennis stock," said a spokesman for Ladbrokes. "If they are half as good as their dad they will still be a potent force on the court." - With their tennis pedigree as daughters of the best in the world to play the game, the newborns have been rated as 50/1 to win a Grand Slam doubles title as part of the same team and 200/1 to earn the Wimbledon crown before 2035, when they will turn 26. " - Brilliant, isn't it ??

3) Alan Donald has called for ICC to legalise ball tampering. Check out this link for the story -

Bye bye Adebayor !

So, after a week of intense speculation, Emanuel Adebayor has finally left for Manchester City. It is believed that Arsenal will be getting around 25 million pounds for him. And among most Arsenal fans, this move is going to be rather popular.

Adebayor scored around 60+ goals in 150 odd games for the Gunners. He was absolutely superb in the 2007-08 season scoring 30 goals in 48 appearances. Last season, however he was too unsettled and played well only in patches.

I will have fond memories of Adebayor the player.... some of his best moments came in big games. The winner at Old Trafford from a Fabregas through ball being the favourite. Other great moments were the goal against Villareal in the quarter final away leg and two goals he scored against Milan and Liverpool in the 2007-08 Champions league from Walcott passes being stand outs for me. There were some other more stunning goals along the way - the volley against Tottenham being one of them.

Wenger hinted that the negative attitude of some Arsenal fans drove him away from the club. The fact is that post the 2007-08 season, he started openly flirting with Milan and Barca to engineer a move away from the Emirates and this did not go down well with most Arsenal fans. And during the last season, the passion, the effort and the commitment was not visible in adequate amounts to win back the fans.

Having said all that, I wish Manu (his nickname) all the best at his new . Here's hoping he scores a few more agaisnt Liverpool, Chelsea, United and of course Spurs !
